As Hopin revised its product vision to adapt to new market spaces amidst the swarm changes with AI, the organization ventured into a future growth strategy—Community. In this initiative, I took charge of establishing design fundamentals for the success of the brand new product.
Distinguishing the product in a competitive landscape
The heart of any community lies in communication. Platforms like Slack, Discord, Circle, and Mighty Networks enable sharing, discussions, and media exchange, but valuable content often gets lost in the stream of messages. To address this, the focus was on building a content value loop, ensuring that as members communicate—through messages, file sharing, and collaborations—the content remains accessible and organized, allowing its value to compound over time and fostering deeper engagement.
App architecture
The overall layout follows a forum-style convention, featuring a top bar and structure designed to support Hopin's multi-product strategy. A key feature is the complementary space, offering flexibility in displaying content and message threads. This approach ensures both ease of navigation across products and an intuitive, low-friction experience for users engaging with content and discussions.
